“Game-based learning to support the digital competence and better transition to the labor market of low-skilled and marginalized students, and to validate pre-employment skills.”
Acronym: “EMPLOGAME”
Objectives
- Objective 1: Production of game-based ontology and scenarios for the educational game “I am ready to work”.
- Objective 2: Development of the educational game “I am ready to work” for marginalized and low-skilled students.
- Objective 3: Development of illustrative info cards on topics such as how to apply for credit and how to prepare and submit documents to tax authorities.
Purpose
Game-based learning will facilitate the acquisition of job preparation skills by marginalized and low-skilled students through engaging, motivating, and captivating methods. The game will provide direct feedback to validate these skills, focusing on a person-centered approach. The feedback will be presented positively, along with suggestions for possible improvements. The scenarios played and the results obtained will offer students direct options to improve specific behavioral characteristics that they can demonstrate during real job interviews.
The illustrative info cards will be developed to teach marginalized and low-skilled students how to apply for credit and how to prepare and submit documents to tax authorities. These cards will be created using relevant didactic infographics based on instructions from the pre-employment program handbook.
The game will help students (marginalized and low-skilled individuals) validate their job preparation skills and choose creative solutions. It will enhance their awareness of their own abilities and development capabilities. Through the gaming approach, we aim to foster self-examination in a safe digital environment, promoting the development of social and self-presentation competences, transversal skills, and strengthening their motivation and self-confidence.
While playing the game, students will be able to validate and assess their level of preparation for employment. Any identified gaps will serve as evidence for teachers and pedagogical counselors to further implement actions and create action plans for preparing these vulnerable groups for employment.
